Double Rainbow FoundTo any of our guests or friends who will be in the vicinity of Glendale Springs, NC, on St Patrick’s Day , come by Mountain View Lodge this March 16th for a whale of a time. There’ll be wearing of the green and drinking of the brown. So join us for a traditional meal of Corned Beef and Cabbage and a pint or two of Guinness. May your thoughts be as glad as the shamrocks. Bicycling in the Blue Ridge

Saturday, February 22nd, 2014

Heading back down the mountainSpring is just around the corner, I promise it is. And if you are a cyclist you are eager to get out of hibernation and pedal yourself back to fitness. Now is the ideal time to make your plans for the upcoming riding season. I highly recommend including a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains as a part of those plans. Beautiful scenery, challenging terrain and lightly travelled roads all make for an excellent cycling destination. So if you are planning a tour through the Blue Ridge Parkway, a training camp or participation in one of the High Country’s cycling events such as the Boone-Roubaix, Blood Sweat and Gears, or the Blue Ridge Brutal, we at Mountain View Lodge and Cabins hope you will consider us when making your arrangements.W e are conveniently located right on the Blue Ridge Parkway at mile marker 256 in Glendale Springs, NC, and each cabin is equipped with whirlpool tubs to relax in after a hard days riding, while the lodge has the room to accommodate larger touring groups or clubs.

Tuesday, February 18th, 2014

IMG_9416The organizers of Merlefest 2014 have announced the addition of music legend Merle Haggard to the line up of performers for this year’s festival. Haggard will close out the festival on Sunday April 27, 2014. The four day festival runs from April 24-27 on the grounds of the Wilkes County Community College in Wilkesboro, NC and features over 130 acts performing country, folk, bluegrass, blues, Cajun, Americana and various hybrids. Merle Haggard, a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, has been making his unique hard edged blend of country and blues since the 1960s, and it will be a special thrill to catch one of the original Outlaws at Merlefest this year.
